Superintendent Update 11/16/2020

It is no secret that at this time our numbers in the county and within our district are growing rapidly.  Last week Stearns County jumped to 115.67.  This is not a local issue, many of the counties surrounding Stearns County are also in triple digits.  Next week, Stearns County is projected to be in the mid-170’s. One of the statistics we continue to look at is the number of staff and students who have either tested positive or have been quarantined because of being in close proximity to someone else who has tested positive. Our positivity rate and quarantine numbers continue to level off in our district in regard to the actions we have taken. We will continue with the hybrid in the elementary and continue with distance learning in the middle and high school.

As it was stated last week, the virus continues to be in a phase of “substantial community spread”.  Also, this number will continue to grow for at least another month. Now is the time more than ever to take steps we are all well aware of to slow the spread down.

We still feel our building is safest in the current two models of elementary in the hybrid model and the MS and HS in distance learning model.  With the MS and HS doing distance learning, we continue to spread out our elementary to limit any transmission that could occur.  Keeping our youngest learners in the building will bring the most benefit.  However, we are aware that we do have some of our secondary students that are struggling with distance learning.  We will be making some adjustments and interventions to help support these students.

If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me or any of the building principals.
