The 2023 Summer Strength & Speed Program came to a conclusion this past week. It was a great summer that had many of our student-athletes dedicating time and efforts to improving their teams and themselves. Similar to last summer, we had an ongoing scoreboard where each incoming senior drafted a team from the list of all participants. Each individual was able to earn points for numerous events/activities, which went directly towards their team total. The team with the most accumulated points at the end of summer was deemed the winner, and earned an "Iron Dutchmen" shirt. Points were earned in the following ways:
- 1 point for Attendance each day (Accountability)
- Performance Testing (Different points for different zones in each test)
- Vertical Jump
- Broad Jump
- Flying 10's (How fast they were running in MPH)
- Random Competitions
- Performers of the Week
The scoreboard allowed the athletes to compete on a daily basis for both individual and team performances. I am very pleased with the results of the summer as MANY of the student-athletes made impressive improvements in their Strength, Speed, Power, Agility, and Mobility (Athletic Abilities).
I would like to give a big THANK YOU to those who helped assist in making this summer happen. Paige Gruber and Maddie Dufner helped all summer long in movement training and the weight room. Brandon Welle and Lindsay Anderson helped when needed. Amy Terres provided great experiences with Yoga. Jonathan Ruoff provided continued support in the program to help with whatever was needed.
