We did have a Stearns County Public Health meeting last week.  Transmission rates still remain very high not only in the state but also in our county.  I know in talking to many people in our communities there is an awareness of this high transmission rate and a mindset of fatigue has set in, in regard to how to respond. Not only are we seeing what appears to be a peak in the number of the Omicron virus but we are also seeing a continuation of influenza impacting our schools.

Please continue to do anything that you can to slow the spread of this latest variant. This would be very beneficial to our health organizations and for those needing health services not related to the pandemic.

Although last Friday’s prediction of snow amounts did not come in as high as predicted, the roads in the afternoon became very treacherous.  I heard numerous reports of cars in the ditches Friday afternoon. As noted in the message sent out, the move to an E-Learning day on Friday was also because of staffing.  We had many staff out because of quarantining at home. As of Thursday afternoon, all available subs had already been scheduled.  Because of the latest variant and influenza, we anticipated more staff calling in on Friday morning. Fortunately, staffing has improved this morning with fewer teachers and support staff out today.

Reminder for this week:

January 21 -  Academic Recovery Day (Remote Learning) Look for info from Principals/Teachers

January 24 - Teacher Workshop (No school)

No buses will run on January 21. Buses will run on January 24 only for the parochial schools.

February 25, 2022, will be an E-Learning Day.

Also, please note a “draft” of the 2022-2023 school calendar has been posted on our website.  This draft can be found by going to the menu and noting it is listed under district information. We have made some subtle changes to the calendar.  If you have any questions or comments on the calendar please email me.

If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me or any of the building principals.
