I had planned on taking down the dashboard for this week’s update. You will notice it no longer appears on this update. However, we did have a confirmed case of a student testing positive for COVID-19 last week. This would be the first confirmed case since mid-February. Although there are reports on the subvariant of the Delta variant being present in Minnesota, current projections from MDH do not see the numbers increasing as we saw in late January. We will continue to monitor this development.
As the pandemic continues to wane as projected this update will start to shift its focus to communicating information on the bond referendum. A bond referendum has been in discussion for many years since the last vote took place in 2015. At last Monday’s (3/28) School Board Meeting, the board voted unanimously to move forward with a $29,940,000 Bond Referendum. The election for this bond referendum will coincide with the primary election on August 9, 2022.
This single question ballot will seek improvements in the following areas:
Construction and equipping of a new Career and Technical Education auto shop addition.
Renovation of existing Career and Technical Education classrooms and labs
Construction and equipping of a new swimming pool facility.
Conversion of the existing pool facility into a multi-purpose activity space and storage.
Replacement of the High School gymnasium floor.
Remodeling and updates to locker rooms and related space.
HVAC improvements.
The replacement of the tennis courts.
ADA accessibility improvements.
Site, grading, and utility improvements.
Formal action will occur at the April School Board meeting for the August 9th election.
