Congratulations to Senior, James Rieland, who played Hockey with our Northstars Team. At the end of the season hockey banquet, James was honored with the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. Each participating high school can nominate one senior player for this prestigious recognition, which celebrates student-athletes who exemplify the core values that defined Hobey Baker: integrity, teamwork, commitment, strength of character, leadership, and sportsmanship.
In recognition of this achievement, James attended a special dinner and award ceremony on April 2, alongside other recipients from across the state, followed by a Minnesota Wild game.

Melrose Area Speech Team competed in the Fairmont Finale on March 28th, and our team earned 1st place overall, with six individual champions! This final invitational of the season was both super fun and challenging. Now, we're pumped to head into the postseason, with Subsections coming up in two weeks! ⏳🏆

Melrose Area Culinary 1 Students made a copycat recipe of Crumbl S'mores Cookies. Students were able to use torches for the fire-roasted marshmallow look and flavor. These cookies were winners. The only complaint from our students: NO MILK!

Melrose Area Speech Team hosted the West Central Conference Meet on Monday, March 16th, and posted impressive results! Melrose Area Speech Team had eight individual Conference Champions, and with 24 speakers placing in the top three of their categories, Melrose Area successfully defended the Conference Championship Title!

Congratulations to the Melrose FIRST Robotics Team, The Gear Grinders!

Out of 51 teams, they finished 2nd in Qualification Matches, earning a spot as the 2nd Alliance Team Captain—a huge accomplishment in a highly competitive field. Only 24 teams advance to the double elimination round, and our team rose to the challenge!

Their alliance battled hard and finished 7th overall, and to top it all off, the team was honored with the All-Star Rookie Award—an amazing recognition of their hard work, innovation, and teamwork.

This team is just getting started, and the future is bright!
