Last week, Mr Walz took 26 students to the Construct Tomorrow program at the St Cloud Convention Center. Students were able to talk to young and experienced professionals about working in the trades. Twelve various trades were represented, simulating a real jobsite. At this career-focused event, students were able to get their hands on the tools of the trade, talk to diverse tradespeople, learn about wages and benefits, and discuss registered apprenticeships with industry professionals. Melrose Area NHS hosted the annual Red Cross Blood Drive today! At this event, there were over 60 people who rolled up their sleeves and helped others. We are thankful for the Red Cross Staff, the students, and Melrose School Staff who were able to help out. Great job! #DutchmenPride

Today is Minnesota's State Tornado Drill. Sirens will sound at 1:45 pm and at 6:45 pm. Students at Melrose Area Schools will take part in the drill at 1:45 pm. Please talk with your families about how to stay safe in tornados.
Reminder: Today there is a second tornado drill at 6:45pm. This is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, and the goal of the drills is to get people thinking about where they can find shelter when there are severe thunderstorms — and possibly tornadoes — throughout the rest of the year. Melrose Area Knowledge Bowl Team was honored at a pep fest yesterday, where they participated in a mock meet against a group of teachers and seniors. Our amazing Knowledge Bowl Team won the mock meet! Local EMS will escort the Knowledge Bowl Team out of town today at 4:30pm. All are welcome to join in cheering our team! #DutchmenPride
