Today is Minnesota's State Tornado Drill. Sirens will sound at 1:45 pm and at 6:45 pm. Students at Melrose Area Schools will take part in the drill at 1:45 pm. Please talk with your families about how to stay safe in tornados.
Reminder: Today there is a second tornado drill at 6:45pm. This is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, and the goal of the drills is to get people thinking about where they can find shelter when there are severe thunderstorms — and possibly tornadoes — throughout the rest of the year. Melrose Area Knowledge Bowl Team was honored at a pep fest yesterday, where they participated in a mock meet against a group of teachers and seniors. Today is the kickoff of the Dutchmen Fun Run! Our goal is to raise $15,000. This helps to support field trips, rollerskating, and playground equipment for students at Melrose Elementary School. Students will be collecting cash, check, and online donations.
