Melrose/Sauk Centre finished as Section 5A Runner Ups. Advancing to State were the following (Records, Finish, and Section Champs also will be noted):
200 Medley Relay: Alex Wilwerding, Sevrin Anderson, Grant Eveslage, and Sam Stangler--Section Champions, New Fusion Record, U of M-Morris Pool Record.
200 Freestyle: Hunter Leslie, 3rd Place
50 Freestyle: Grant Eveslage, 2nd Place. Alex Wilwerding, 3rd Place.
Diving: Andrue Stalboerger, 3rd Place
100 Butterfly: Sevrin Anderson, 2nd Place
100 Freestyle: Grant Eveslage, 3rd Place
500 Freestyle: Macen Toavs-Etcheverry, Section Champion. Nolan Fleischhacker, 3rd Place.
200 Freestyle Relay: Sully Stumler, Sevrin Anderson, Hunter Leslie and Sam Stangler, 2nd Place.
100 Backstroke: Alex Wilwerding, 3rd Place.
100 Breaststroke: Sevrin Anderson, Section Champion, New Fusion Record and New U of M Morris Pool Record.

Melrose Area Schools celebrated Isaac Frericks, who will participate at the State Wrestling Meet! Isaac and Afton Vogt, from Sauk Centre, will represent SC-M Defenders this weekend! Isaac was met with cheers and high fives as he walked through the halls this morning. Local EMS gave Isaac, as well as teammate Dan Frericks, an escort out of town. Congratulations, Isaac! We are excited to announce Head Coach Caitlin Mayo has been named Section 2A Jazz Dance Team Coach of the Year! The Minnesota Association of Dance Teams began giving out these awards in 2024-25, and it's exciting to know our very own coach was selected as the first recipient! We are so proud of Ms. Mayo! Congratulations to the Melrose Area Speech Team, who were the Team Champions at the Morris Meet this past Saturday! Contributing to the success of the team were five individual Champions! Rebecca Welle earned 1st in Ex. Reading. Teague Dusha earned 1st in both Ex. Speaking and Original Oratory, Meadow Schaefer earned 1st in Poetry, and Jada Rausch earned 1st in Storytelling! For the Defenders Girls Wrestlers, Afton Vogt took 2nd Place, Natalee Friedrichs took 3rd Place, Georgia Anderson and Monika Frericks each took 4th Place, Makenzey Stutzman took 6th Place, and Krista Klasen took 8th Place.
Isaac Frericks will be competing at the State Boys Wrestling Tournament on Friday.
